Frank Tjepkema - Heartbreak pendant

Came across this "Heartbreak" pendant by Frank Tjepkema a while back on Pan-Dan. The heart is made out of porcelain, and the hammer is made out of titanium. The appeal of the pendant is that if it cracks over time (as it is meant to), it will continue to hold together because of a rubber coating inside the heart, turning the pendant into a broken heart.

Frank is also the creator of the Signature Vase, which we posted about a few months ago. Love his work!

Edouard Larmaraud

I like this ring. I might have had to kill Sean if I was given this as my engagement ring, but I think it's very clever. Designed by Edouard Larmaraud and called the Trompe L'Oeil Ring, it comes with a tiny diamond and a crystal magnifying glass.

I also like this lamp by Edouard. When it's off, it folds up and sits neatly on your desk, and when you open and reposition it, the lamp lights up. Nice!

Thwart Design

More work from a new favorite, Thwart Design. I love the humor in their work. Above is the Mold Vase, below is the Iron Curtain.

Emiko Oki

Found another designer to file under 'favorites'...I think these products are so clever! Both take typical household objects and subvert them by applying new meaning to old objects. I love the modified pint glasses, especially the wine glass within the pint glass! The trophy table set is a nice project as well...a clever ensemble of products. Emiko Oki is a young Japanese designer based in England.

D-BROS

Sean and I wandered into Future Perfect this weekend and discovered the awesome Japanese collective D-BROS. I love how playful their work is.

Also very cool are these plastic bag vases. It's hard to tell from the photos, but these vases are just heavy duty plastic bags that you fill with water, insert flower, and voila!: instant vase!
